REQUIRED CLEARANCE:
Top Secret (TS) with full scope poly required (TS/SCI/FSP). A
lapsed full scope poly (FSP) within the last 12 months with eligibility
for reinstatement is acceptable.
Required/Desired Skills:
- Functional and technical experience in UNIX, Windows (hardware and
software).
- Some experience in system administration of all Unix Servers to
include: installation, backups, patch maintenance, performance tuning,
monitoring results of cron jobs, hardware/software installs,
de-installs, upgrades, and relocations to ensure no operational impacts
occur.
- Knowledge of common protocols like SMTP, SSH, SFTP, FTP, HTTP, DNS,
PKI.
- Ability to communicate problems and solutions both verbally and in
writing to customers and management.
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with speed and
efficiency.
- Ability to work closely with others in a small team environment.
- Ability to interface with all customer levels
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Systems Administrator - Operations and Maintenance Support Duties
- Responsible for UNIX servers (Sun F15000 and smaller) and the
operating systems software and its successful integration with the
hardware and applications software of the major computing systems across
the organization.
- Plan, test, install, and integrate new and upgraded versions of the
relevant operating systems on organizational computer systems, all
third-party software components, and subsystems.
- Develop test plans and procedures.
- Test and integrate software and hardware.
- Manage software life cycles.
- Establish development, testing, staging, and operating environments.
- Design interfaces to external systems.
- Maintain and consult for relevant operating systems on organizational
computer systems, all third-party software components, and subsystems.
- Research and resolve systems software problems efficiently and
accurately while adhering to internal software management standards and
procedures.
- Troubleshoot problems that may involve applications and the network.
- Provide technical support to applications and utility developers on
requirements for integration into the operating environment.
- Maintain and update documentation on the operating systems
configuration.
- Provide full range of systems administration and IT support for team
of developers and engineers application.
- Create / register users for systems user access control.
- Systems Admin will work with Senior System Administration to learn
and/or support the following:
- Provide application and system support for future builds and releases,
to include after-hour, weekend, non-core hour support (pager duty).
- Ensure equipment inventory is kept current.
- Create and follow standard processes, plan effectively to complete
tasks on schedule, and clearly document results.
- Monitor and complete daily file processing, perform system backups,
examine log files and escalate identified issues to appropriate group.
- Analyze system failures, replace or coordinate the replacement of
failed equipment.
- Build, upgrade and maintain server hardware in test, development and
production environments.
- Assist in the development of project plans, system concept of
operations and briefings.
- Assist with coordinating project activities as appropriate with
multiple customer client components. Implement CM, documentation
policies, and other project programmatic directives.
- Provide system administration support to the system environments, to
include but not limited to deployed (operational), test, and development
environments.
- Provide system administration operations procedures, installation
procedures, test procedures, build reports, and support transition to
operations build releases.
